Preparation
Purpose:
To provide persons with disabilities with basic employment preparation tools necessary for community employment placement.
To support and encourage the applicant to develop individualized goals as to their vocational interests and/or skill development needs for successful community employment opportunities.
Program:
The Employment Preparation program assists persons with disabilities
to develop their skills and to work towards their goals for community
employment opportunities. A variety of assessments, observations
and interviews enable supports to outline the person's strengths
and needs and to develop individualized goals and objectives. Applicants
will have an understanding of their options in regards to vocational
interests and the tools necessary to seek community employment.
Program Training options are based on, but not limited to: -Gaining
equipment knowledge and operation skills, -Improving quality of
workmanship, -Training in workplace safety and first aid, -Accepting
directional instruction and constructive criticism, -Identifying
and reporting problems in the workplace, -Maintaining appropriate
documentation regarding time sheets and pay cheques, -Improving
interpersonal and social skills.
Referral sources could include any of the following:
- Self
- Guardian
- Persons with Developmental Disabilities Consultation Unit (PDD)
- Other community agency
