Residential Support Services

Children's Residence

Our desire is to provide a caring home environment for children with very challenging or multiple needs. The residence provides care on a permanent basis for three children. There are two additional spaces for children requiring short-term respite support.

The program, through its home and community environments, presents children with opportunities and the requisite supports required to learn daily-living skills in the following areas:

  • Self-help
  • Communication
  • Socialization
  • Recreation and leisure

A proactive approach is used in planning for each child's personal growth and transitions.

Basic Admission Criteria

  • A primary diagnosis of developmental disability.
  • The child must be between six to eighteen years of age.
  • An application and complete medical are required. Residential staff and/or community resources can deal with medical management.
  • Day-program or schooling arrangements are mandatory during the school calendar year.
  • A visit to the residence, and attendance at an intake interview is necessary.

If a child is accepted as a permanent resident and space is available, arrangements will be made for the youngster to move in for a 90-day trial period. Priority is given to applicants within the Northeast region.

All referral applicants must be submitted through Sakaigun Child and Family Services. Phone (780) 645-6380 or (780) 645-6370.

The Home

The five-bedroom home, located in St. Paul, is close to three schools and operates 365 days a year. It is staffed 18 hours per day on scheduled school days and 24 hours per day on weekends and holidays. It is wheelchair friendly.

  • Transportation is available.
  • Board is $300.00 per month per child.

Respite space will be provided when room is available. Please Note: Special circumstances may require additional staffing and extra costs.
