Residence #2
This residence provides a supported residential environment for adults with developmental disabilities, which will enable them to develop the necessary skills to achieve a more independent role and lifestyle in the community.
Residents are presented with opportunities and supports to develop and enhance their skills in:
- Food handling
- Learning to plan for and cook tasty, nutritious meals
- Budgeting and banking
- Household tasks such as housecleaning, simple repair and maintenance
- Life skills
- Personal and community awareness, decision making and health care
- Home safety
- Recreation and leisure
- Socialization, making friends, and understanding relationships
The program's structure acts a stepping stone to community living. A self-contained apartment is available to assist with training. Please Note: This program is under review and may change to meet the needs of the people it currently serves.
Basic Admission Criteria
- A primary diagnosis of developmental disability.
- 18 years of age and over.
- An application and complete medical are required; both must be concluded and submitted as part of the referral package.
- A willingness to participate in an individual service plan and program goals.
- Each person must supply his or her own bedroom furnishings.
Priority is given to applicants within the Northeast region. If an applicant is accepted as a permanent resident and space is available, arrangements will be made for the individual to move in for a 90-day trial period.
All applications must be submitted through the client services coordinator at the Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) Consultation Unit. The PDD Northeast Consultation Unit must approve the placement. Applicants are welcome to apply to the St. Paul Abilities Network for supports.
The Residence
The home is a duplex-style house with three bedrooms per side and operates 365 days a year. One respite space will be provided when available. Staffing is provided 18 hours per day, Monday to Friday. On weekends and holidays, staffing is provided 24 hours per day.
Also available is a one-bedroom basement suite that includes all
utilities except telephone for $460.00/month (Room and board is
$19.00 per day). Support is provided by the Adult Adult Outreach
Services Program.
