Residential Support Services

The residential Services Directorate provides services to individuals with disabilities in group living situations. The focus of the service varies from facilitating independence skills to assisting individuals to maintain their skills. The Residential Services Directorate strives to ensure individuals are valued and welcome members of their community.

The Residential Services Directorate consists of:

Residence 2- The home has space for six individuals with a focus on community access and preparation for independent living.

Residence 3- This residence has spaces for six individuals with a focus on aging issues.

Residence 5- The four people living in this home have a variety of differing interests actively pursued by each person.

Residence 6 - The Residential Directorate supports three individuals with challenging disabilities to access the community in methods of their choice.

Residence 8 - This program hosts five individuals with a variety of abilities.

Residence 9 - The three individuals at Residence 9 are active members of the community with supports described as slightly above minimal.

Residence 10 - The spacious and wheelchair accessible residence is home to five individuals enjoying very active lifestyles.

Residence 11 - Three individuals residen in this home, it has a ramp for wheelchair accessability. The program has a large focus on community access.

Residence 14 -This individual also has a personalized program consisting of skill development, day program, and leisure / recreational activity.

Residence 17 - The individual in this program has an apartment style home,and has a personalized program consisting of skill development, day program, and leisure / recreational activity.

Residence 18 - Support Home; One individual is supported in the home of a community member.

Adult Outreach - 40 plus people living semi-independently in the community.

Recreation Department - Provides opportunity for people to be involved in organized recreational and leisure activities as well as the travel club for those who like to venture out of the area.

 

The residential Directorate has a fully trained staffing complement including Programmers and Residential Supervisors. Both types of staff ensure the individuals are well served within their homes (physically, mentally, and spiritually) while having the socialization and family support so important to all of us. The Programmers are trained specifically to develop programs to enhance the lives and abilities of the people we serve. The residences are active members of the community and good neighbours. Services include individual goal development, skills assessment, community access facilitation, financial management and budgeting, vacation and leisure planning, medication and health management, and the assurance of safety and security.

Residential services operate 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. The homes of each operation are specific to that program and the individual needs of the people being served.

Community Support Services Directorate
Community Support Services works closely with other agency departments and community partners to establish environments where people can be successful. The focus of Community Support Services is to connect individuals and families with programs and appropriate resources to ensure optimum community participation for service recipients.
The Community Support Services Directorate consists of:


Children's Residence - A five bedroom support home for children with high needs. This program offers a safe and nurturing environment for these special kids to grow and blossom.


White Oaks Residence - A five bedroom home for persons with mental health concerns. This program helps individuals transition from institutional environments to independent living.


White Oaks Day Program - This program enables persons with mental health concerns to work on independent living skills and participate in group recreation and leisure activities.


Community Involvement Program
- This program provides families with information and support in the areas of Guardianship and Personal Directives.


Alberta Brain Injury Network - The agency acts as an advocate for brain injury survivors and as the regional contract manager for Supports for Community Living service providers.


Children's Respite Services - This program offers respite support and supervised visitation to families and their children on an individual basis in concert with Alberta Children's Services.


There are between fifty and one hundred people and families being supported through various means every month by the Community Support Services Directorate. The programs create opportunities for people and families to achieve their goals and obtain maximum independence within the community. Each program operates based on the needs of the service recipients and within our agency contract guidelines.
